Best Ball - Participants select players through a draft. Once drafted, participants' rosters are set - there are no waivers, substitutions, or trades during the contest period and participants do not need to manage their lineups. Underdog automatically selects the participant's highest scoring players at the designated positions to be “starters” and only those players' statistics are counted towards the participant's accumulated score.
Battle Royale - Participants select players through a snake draft, and scores are matched up against every other score in the contest, not just the participants in your particular draft group. Contests are typically for shorter periods of time, such as one day or one week.
Tournament - Participants select players through a draft and compete in various sized groups over the course of the tournament pursuant to tournament specific rules. Tournaments will typically involve multiple rounds of advancement. Tournament specific rules will vary as it pertains to the amount of permitted entries, prize allotment, group size, player pool, and slate. Tournament contests are typically offered for longer periods of time, such as for a full sports season.
Weekly Winners - Drafted teams compete for the duration of a specified season. Instead of being tournament-style, where teams accumulate points throughout the season to advance, Weekly Winners contests award prizes to the highest-scoring teams for each scoring week throughout the season.
Guaranteed - The contest is guaranteed to run (with prizes unchanged) even if it does not reach capacity before the contest start time. However, specific entries submitted are only guaranteed once the draft group they were placed in fills. If a particular draft group within the contest does not fill to capacity by contest start time, any pending entries in that draft group will be canceled and refunded.
Multi-entry - Multiple entries may be submitted into a contest by a single participant. The maximum number of entries that a single participant may submit into the contest will be stated in the contest card and contest specific rules.
Beginner - Beginner contests are available only to participants who have entered 50 contests or fewer on Underdog and who do not otherwise qualify as an Experienced or Highly Experienced Player. Any participant not classified as a beginner is prohibited from entering these contests.
Expert - Contests are only offered to those participants who are classified as “Experienced” or “Highly Experienced.” Participants classified as a beginner or who are otherwise unclassified are prohibited from entering Expert contests.
Instant draft - These contests will have no draft room - instead teams will be drafted for participants instantly based on their pre-set player rankings or Average Draft Position (“ADP”).
Slow draft - Participants may choose to enter a slow draft allowing for more time on the pick clock to select your roster. Slow drafts start with an 8 hour pick clock. The clock time permitted for each pick will speed up in accordance with contest specific rules as the cutoff time for the contest approaches.
