Why a Prediction Pick or Cash Out May Be Unavailable

Updated over 2 weeks ago

When trading Prediction Markets around sports, you may sometimes see that a pick won’t submit or that Cash Out is suspended. In most cases, this happens because the market has insufficient liquidity.

What does “liquidity” mean?

In Prediction Markets, liquidity refers to how many people are actively placing picks on both sides of a market at a given time.

Every pick needs a match:

  • If you want to take one side of a prediction, another user must be willing to take the opposite side.

  • If you want to Cash Out, another user must be willing to take over your position.

When there isn’t a matching party available, the market has insufficient liquidity, and the action can’t be completed.

What happens when there is insufficient liquidity?

When a market doesn’t have enough liquidity, you may notice:

  • No price available when trying to place a pick

  • A pick that won’t go through

  • Cash Out showing as suspended or unavailable at the moment

This doesn’t mean your entry is broken or invalid; it simply means there’s no one available to match the other side of your trade right now.

Why liquidity can change during sports events

Liquidity naturally fluctuates throughout a game. Common reasons include:

As the game gets closer to ending

Late in a game, or when an outcome becomes more obvious, fewer users may be willing to take the remaining side of a prediction. When that happens, liquidity can drop quickly, especially for Cash Out attempts near the end of a game.

Outside active trading periods

Prediction Markets are most active when games are live or approaching start time. Outside of these periods, fewer users may be placing picks, which can reduce available liquidity.

Rapid in-game moments

Big plays, injuries, or sudden shifts in momentum can cause many users to rush toward the same outcome at once. If too many users want the same side, there may not be enough opposite action to support all trades.

Why Cash Out may be unavailable

Cash Out works by closing your pick early at the current market price. If there isn’t enough liquidity:

  • There may be no available price to close your entry

  • Cash Out will be temporarily unavailable, even though your entry is still active

This can change quickly as more users enter the market or conditions shift.

Liquidity is about having enough activity on both sides of a Prediction Market.
When there aren’t enough users to match your pick or Cash Out request, it may be temporarily unavailable. This can occur especially late in a game or contest, when outcomes are close to being decided."

Will it become available again?

Often, yes. Liquidity can return as:

  • More users place picks on the opposite side

  • Trading activity increases

  • Market conditions stabilize

Because sports markets move fast, availability can change minute by minute.
