Bracket Battle

Updated this week

What is Bracket Battle?

Bracket Battle is Underdog's free March Madness bracket contest. Fill out your NCAA Tournament bracket and compete for your share of $100,000 in cash prizes — no entry fee required.

How do I enter?

Open the Underdog app, navigate to the Bracket Battle lobby, and fill out your 63-pick bracket before the first round tip-off on Thursday. Brackets are available starting Selection Sunday. One bracket per user. You must have a verified account to participate.

Is it really free?

Yes! There is no entry fee necessary to enter — Bracket Battle is a free-to-play contest!

Who is eligible?

Bracket Battle is open to all eligible Underdog users in supported states. You must have a verified account to participate.

How does scoring work?

You earn points for every correct pick. Points double each round — so later-round picks are worth more:

Round

Points per Correct Pick

Round of 64

1

Round of 32

2

Sweet 16

4

Elite 8

8

Final Four

16

Championship

32

Scores update automatically after each game concludes. You can also track your "possible points remaining" — the maximum you could still earn based on your remaining live picks.

What about tiebreakers?

When submitting your bracket, you'll be asked to enter a tiebreaker (a score prediction). In the event of a tie on the leaderboard, tiebreaker responses will be used to separate rankings. Full tiebreaker rules are in the official contest rules.

What are the prizes?

The top-scoring brackets win cash prizes deposited directly to their Underdog account:

Place

Prize

1st

$20,000

2nd

$10,000

3rd

$7,500

4th-5th

$5,000

6th-10th

$2,500

11th-25th

$1,000

26th-50th

$500

51st-100th

$250

When will winners be paid?

After the championship game (April 6), final standings are calculated, and winners are paid out within approximately 7 days via a direct deposit to their Underdog account balance.

What is "Predict the Champion"?

After submitting your bracket, users in eligible states will see an option to "Predict the Champion" — a separate prediction market entry based on your bracket's championship pick. This is optional and completely separate from the free Bracket Battle contest.

Can I view other people's brackets?

Before the tournament starts, you can only see brackets that have been explicitly shared with you. Once the tournament begins, the leaderboard is visible, and public brackets may be viewable. Your username and avatar may appear on the leaderboard.

Can I share my bracket?

Yes — after submitting, you can share your bracket via the share button in the lobby. Your shared bracket will generate a tappable preview card across social platforms and messages.

Can I edit my bracket?

Brackets can be edited up until the first game tips off. Once the first game starts, brackets are locked.

Where can I find the official contest rules?

Full official rules are available at app.underdogfantasy.com/rules.
