Pick'em Scoring - SURF
Updated this week

Every sport has its particular scoring. For more information on other sports, check out the MISC section on our rules page.

  • Finishing Position - If a surfer fails to advance to the Bracket Round of an event, they will be graded as one higher than the total number of participants in the Bracket Round. For example: if a surfer has a finishing position projection of 16.5 and they fail to reach a 16-person bracket round, they will be graded as 17 and ‘Worse’ picks will be graded as winners. Surfers that are eliminated during the Bracket Rounds will be graded in order based on their heat score for that round. For example: the four surfers eliminated during the Round of 8, will be graded 5th through 8th place based on their heat score in the Round of 8.

  • Best Bracket Heat Score - Projections will be graded based on the highest heat score recorded throughout all heats during the Bracket Rounds. For example: if a surfer has a Best Bracket Heat Score Projection of 13.67, records a 14.32 Heat Score in the Round of 16, and advances all the way to the Finals and records a score of 12.95 in the final - their Best Bracket Heat Score will be graded as 14.32. If a surfer is eliminated in the first bracket round, their score from the first round will be used to grade their projection. If a surfer does not reach the “bracket” portion of the event, their picks for Best Bracket Heat Score will void.

  • Opening Round Heat Score - Projections will be graded based only on a surfer’s scores from their opening round heat. Elimination Rounds and Bracket Rounds are not counted for Opening Round Heat Score. If a surfer does NOT participate in the Opening Round for any reason, their projections will void.

Picks will not void if the event is moved to a different date from what was originally scheduled.
